Our next home
Compartment C09 Brf Ekbacken Stadsskogen Alingsås.
After nearly 8 years in Östadkulle we will soon move back to the town Alingsås again. Our new home is planned in the district Stadsskogen in the south west of Alingsås. Derome Mark & Bostad is about to construct a condominium project consisting of two buildings. A 5-floor building with 14 apartments with a garage in the basement, and a 3-floor building with 10 apartments. Both houses will be on the "edge" of the hill down to the lake Mjörn. On the top floor of both houses, there are two penthouses.
We have booked us for one of these, the south one of the west building. The apartment is 107 sqm on one level with a 35 sqm roof terrace. The view from the terrace will be magnificent! Before the launch / sales Derome built a temporary platform of the scaffolding where you could go up and get a taste of the views and scenery. See below (the perspective is a bit distorted as it is a sweeping panorama image, about 135 °)
When faced with the thinking, one wonders how it will be, the new home. If there is an existing mortgage, it is often easy to visit and see how it looks. How do you do if the home does not exist yet. Regarding typical houses sometimes reference building is available which have been raised before. However, this is not the case here as these houses are unique architect designed homes.
The only thing that existed / exist, are floor plans, elevations and a computer-generated image of the three-story house. Enough so, but then as I normally work with 3D CAD (computer aided design in 3D) so came the idea to model the buildings in the computer. Now I have not used the program I work with on a daily basis. Instead having used the freeware Google SketchUp. This is because it is quick to work in, and that you get the opportunity to see how the sun strikes shadows at different times of the year / time. But also the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of finished parts on the internet as the world's users posted for anyone to use. We're talking about furniture, trees & shrubs, people, cars and yes, anything is possible. Just to download and put in to place.
How did I do this? I started by loading the Derome ground map. Stretched out on the right scale and turned it so that I got my 3-D coordinate system right. Then I began to sketch the contour lines which formed the basis of the terrain below the houses. Then proceeded to the construction of the buildings. "Just" to sketch and draw. So after about 40h, it was all clear. I also detailed "our" apartment with walls, furniture, etc.
In doing so I could later "place" me in the apartment and get a decent feel for how it might look like. Then, did the final latitude and longitude set so that Sun elevation was the right one. When the model is in 3D I can twist and turn the way I want to look at it from all different directions and angles. One can also take "snapshots" of the model in the form of JPEG images. The result you can see in the album. Click on images to enlarge.
Attention! The model is a free expression made by me from early sketches and can differ to what will become the real buildings.
As you can see, you get a quite good representation of how it may look. Especially the buildings. The surroundings and the ground piece is harder to fix.
You can follow the project by my photoes taken ones a week. I will continue this until the project is finished someware in may 2012.
